Explanation of average cost and PnL calculations
1. Average cost
Average cost refers to the average market price when the asset amount in the spot account increases (including spot purchases and deposits).
Calculation method = Buy price * Buy quantity / Total buy quantity. This data is for reference only and accuracy is not guaranteed.
2. Position PnL
Position PnL = (Last price - Average cost) * Asset balance
Examples
Scenario 1: Spot purchase
Assume you purchase BTC in the market through two separate transactions:
First purchase: Buy 1 BTC at $40,000
Second purchase: Buy 1 BTC at $50,000
Average cost calculation: [($40,000 * 1) + ($50,000 * 1)] / 2 = $45,000
PnL analysis: If the last price is $60,000, your position PnL is ($60,000 - $45,000) * 2 = +$30,000.
Scenario 2: External deposit
Assume you already hold assets in your account, and then transfer additional assets from an external wallet:
Initial position: 1 ETH is already held, with an average cost of $2,000
Deposit: When the ETH market price is $3,000, you deposit 1 ETH
Average cost calculation: [($2,000 * 1) + ($3,000 * 1)] / 2 = $2,500
PnL analysis: The system uses the "market price at the time of deposit" as the cost basis for that asset when performing weighted calculations. If the last price drops to $2,400, your position PnL is ($2,400 - $2,500) * 2 = -$200.
